REINFORCED CONCRETE SLEEPER Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC E01B3/32

Abstract RU 2293810 C1

FIELD: crest railroad structure, particularly sleepers to be used in high-speed, tunnel, subway rail roads and approach rail lines leading to industrial enterprises.

SUBSTANCE: sleeper adapted to support rails and used as base for rail fastening means takes loads acting on rails and fastening means during rail road usage and transmits above loads to ballast layer. Reinforced concrete sleeper is made as reinforced bar having trapezoid cross-section, which varies along sleeper length. The trapezoid cross-section has inclined upper surfaces adapted to arrange rail fastening means and has orifices to receive embedded members or grouted bolting members. The cross-section defines two trapezes arranged one over another. Upper base of the first trapeze is lower base of another one. Side walls of lower trapeze are inclined at 79-87° to lower base along the full sleeper length. Side walls of upper trapeze are made as wide facet extending for the full sleeper length and inclined at 60-77° to lower base. Each trapeze has nominal height constant over the full sleeper length.

EFFECT: possibility to retain strength characteristics of total sleeper structure and increased strength of separate sleeper parts, possibility to use bar reinforcement, increased manufacturability of sleeper molds and sleeper itself, possibility to use sleeper with different fastening means having embedded members or grouted bolting members.
