METHOD FOR GRINDING OF STALKED MATERIALS BALE IN HOPPER-TYPE GRINDER AND GRINDER Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A01F29/00 

FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, grinding of stalked materials.

SUBSTANCE: method involves placing bale into hopper; providing mellowing and preliminary grinding of bale in lower part of feeding chamber of grinder and additional grinding in working chamber. Bale grinding is performed with variable volumes of feeding chamber and working chamber, with alteration of volume of working chamber being inversely proportional to feeding rate of material delivered therein and alteration of volume of feeding chamber being directly proportional to said feeding rate. Grinder has hopper with disk placed within housing on drive shaft, two spaced apart groups of cutting plates and grinding member connected to drive shaft. Disk divides housing cavity into feeding chamber and working chamber. Second disk is placed within housing in working chamber in spaced relation with respect to said first disk, said second disk being circumferentially connected through pins with first disk. First disk and grinding members mounted on pins are positioned for spring-loaded longitudinal shifting toward second disk.

EFFECT: increased grinding uniformity and reduced consumption of power for grinding process.
