FIELD: inorganic compounds technologies.
SUBSTANCE: process comprises batching limestone into container, pouring above it iron-free low-phosphorus slag, heating the mixture, adding silicomanganese to slag-limestone melt, reducing slag with silicon of silicomanganese in presence of limestone, adjusting melt, and discharging melting products. According to invention, limestone is charged in amount comprising 33-43% of the amount of slag to achieve basicity modulus of melt 1.5-1.8 and silicomanganese is added in molten state in amount 70-90% based on the weight of slag-limestone melt.
EFFECT: simplified technology of producing low-carbon ferromanganese from iron-free low-phosphorus manganese slag and silicomanganese obtained from processing of low-grade carbonate iron-manganese ores, and reduced power consumption.
