FIELD: transport engineering; electrified transport.
SUBSTANCE: proposed vehicle current collector is furnished with maximum wear pickup made in form of optical glass-fiber line placed inside current collecting element at a distance of maximum tolerable wear from working surface and connected, through amplifier, with maximum wear indicator unit installed on driver's panel.
EFFECT: improved reliability of current collecting at high running speed of vehicles, reduced service expenses caused by delays of trains.
