VERTICALLY MOVING STEEL STRIP POSITION STABILIZING METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE SAME Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC C23C2/24

FIELD: metallurgy, namely production of coated rolled products, possibly procedure of continuous application of zinc coating onto steel strip in aggregates for continuous hot zinc plating.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of passing steel strip through vessel with melt coating material and acting upon strip by means of electromagnetic field creating effort Р=(3,8-4,5)h after strip leaves vessel with melt material just before it achieves zone of fluidic control of coating thickness due to acting upon mean portion of strip with length (0.25 - 0.32)B where h and B respectively maximum thickness and width values of strip, mm. Apparatus for performing the method includes member with slit like through duct for passing strip. Said member is in the form of platform mounted on runners arranged in П-shaped guides placed at narrow sides of through slit like duct in axles parallel relative to plane said platform. Apparatus also includes rollers mounted with possibility of changing distance between them and electromagnets arranged on platform at both sides of slit like through duct in such a way that their axes coincide with cross axis of slit like through duct.

EFFECT: possibility for providing uniform thickness of coating due to lowered oscillations and elimination of strip cambers in cross direction just before strip achieves zone of fluidic control of coating thickness.
