FIELD: polymer production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-molecular weight polymers containing salicylic acid pending groups used for clarification of red slime containing fluids obtained in Beyer process employed to recover alumina out of bauxite ore and provides water-soluble high-molecular weight polymer containing salicylic acid pending groups and having molecular weight at least 2000000 Dalton, which is prepared via free-radical polymerization of one or more monomers containing salicylic acid groups, one or more acrylate monomers selected from group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid, salts and esters thereof, and optionally one or more polymerizable monomers selected from group consisting of nonionic, anionic, cationic, and zwitterionic monomers, provided that such polymer is not polymer of acrylamide/4-acrylamidosalycilic acid copolymer prepared via solution polymerization.
EFFECT: enabled preparation of polymers increasing efficiency of precipitation of suspended solids in Beyer process fluids.
