FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to highly molecular polymers, which contain side groups of salicylic acid, and to their application for clearing of lye in Bayer method. Claimed is highly molecular water-soluble polymer, which contains side groups of salicylic acid and is characterised by average-weight molecular weight, at least, equal to approximately 2000000 daltons, obtained by carrying out free-radical polymerisation of one or several monomers, which contain salicylic acid, selected from group, which consists of 4-methacrylamidesalicylic acid or its salt, phenyl ether of 4-methacrylamidosalicylic acid or its salt, O-acetyl-4-methacrylamidosalicylic acid or its salt and phenyl ether of O-acetyl-4-methacrylamidosalicylic acid or its salt, and one or several acrylate monomers, selected from (meth)acrylic acid and its salts and alkyl ether of (meth)acrylic acid. As version claimed is polymer, which was obtained by copolymerisation of said above compounds and one or several polymerised monomers, selected from non-ionic, anionic, cationic, Zwitter-ionic monomers.
EFFECT: claimed is application of polymer for clearing of lye, containing red slime, formed in Bayer method for aluminium oxide extraction from bauxite.
