FIELD: production of nuclear fuel composite materials.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method for producing composite material composed of mixture of UO₂ and PuO₂ aggregates dispersed in UO₂ includes following steps: 1) joint dry milling of powdered UO₂ and powdered PuO₂ (the latter may be fully or partially replaced by sorted-out recovered powdered mixture of (U, Pu)O₂ oxides to obtain homogeneous original mixture; 2) compaction of original mixture to obtain linked aggregates; 3) sifting of aggregates to obtain sizes ranging between 20 and 350 μm; 4) dilution of sifted aggregates in UO₂ matrix to obtain powder mixture; 5) pelletizing of powder mixture; 6) calcination of pellets to obtain composite material.

EFFECT: improved ability of nuclear fuel to liberate gaseous decay products.
