FIELD: super-broadband microwave antennas for communication systems, radars, and for metrology.
SUBSTANCE: proposed antenna that can be used as self-contained device and as part of phased antenna arrays has antipodal slot line (ASL) disposed on insulating substrate and used to feed transmission stripline section. Aperture is formed by ASL section without overlapping, its first and second metal plates are converging along inner side edge of first metal plate in vicinity of zero overlap of ASL first and second metal plates. Two radiating metal surfaces are disposed in vicinity of antenna aperture perpendicular to insulating substrate surface; first and second radiating metal surfaces are electrically connected over entire length through one side edge to inner side edges of first and second metal plates, respectively, between zero overlap region and point of antenna-aperture maximal opening. First and second metal radiating surfaces have equal width between zero overlap region and point of antenna aperture maximal opening.
EFFECT: enhanced antenna gain, reduced cross-polarization level of electric field, side-lobe level, return and forward radiation, reduced background level.
