METHOD FOR EVALUATING THE FUNCTION OF LEFT ATRIUM WHILE PROBING CARDIAC CAVITIES IN PATIENTS WITH POST-INFARCTION LARGE-FOCUS CARDIOSCLEROSIS Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61B6/00

Abstract RU 2299013 C2

FIELD: medicine, cardiovascular surgery.

SUBSTANCE: it is necessary to carry out visualization of left atrium, measure the end diastolic and the end systolic volumes of left atrium, moreover, one should conduct contrasting of the right pulmonary artery and registration of roentgenograms in right oblique 30°-projection till visualization of left atrium, on roentgenograms one should round the contours of left atrium into systole and diastole, obtain the shape of left atrium into systole and diastole, divide the cavity of left atrium along cardiac axis to reconstruct 20 perpendiculars each being at equal distances from another one by capturing the whole cavity of left atrium, measure 20 perpendiculars to evaluate the end volume of left atrium by Simpson into systole (ESVLA) and diastole (EDVLA), calculate the ejection fraction of left atrium (EFLA) by the following formula: EFLA=(EDVLA-ESVLA)/EDVLA, at EFLA≤50% it is possible to evaluate the function of left atrium as decompensated at high risk for the development of pulmonary hypertension, at EFLA>50% - as compensated, the risk for the development of pulmonary hypertension is low. The innovation is simple in implementation and enables to decrease traumatism while studying.

EFFECT: higher efficiency and accuracy of evaluation.
