FIELD: mining industry, possible use for remotely measuring roof rock movements in underground mines.

SUBSTANCE: method includes determining the place of measurement, fastening of conductor end to roof, positioning of measuring device, containing conductor tensioning element, and measurement of transmitted characteristics. Determined firstly for primary landing of roof in cleaning face is the area of greatest strains and deformations of rocks, located in middle section of primary cave-in step, end of conductor is held in roof in selected spot during approach of mechanized complex to this area. Mounted perpendicularly to bedding below conductor end holding spot is a block, through which conductor is driven, and by means of other blocks, mounted near roof of ventilation or conveyer drifts, it is fastened to measuring device. Measurement of characteristics of measuring device is started as soon as mechanized complex departs. Measuring device is additionally equipped with automatically enabled emergency signaling, which is supposed to be enabled during movement of conductor tensioning element before reaching half of calculated movement of roof rocks. As conductor, steel wire may be used.
