FIELD: chemistry of biologically active compounds, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method for synthesis of serotonin and its pharmacologically acceptable salts. Method involves addition of alkaline metal to the reaction medium in a netted capsule made of platinized or palladized platinum and reduction of 5-benzyloxytryptamine with hydrogen in status nascendi under atmosphere pressure and intensive stirring. Method provides enhancing the purity degree of the end substance and to obtain its with the yield above 99% as compared with 71% by the known method.
EFFECT: improved method of synthesis, increased yield.
