FIELD: processes for etching surface of materials, possibly macroscopic investigation of strength properties of metallic and non-metallic materials, quality control of produced articles.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of providing interaction of etched surface connected to positive pole of DC source with etching unit treated by means of etching composition and connected to negative pole. At etching process contact zone of etched surface with etching unit is heated till boiling temperature of etching composition due to increased electric current density.
EFFECT: combination of effects of chemical and electrolytic etching, increased etching rate, possibility for etching material surfaces of non-limited size, accelerated process for studying macrostructure.
