FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: drum-type washing machine has housing and rotating drum for placing cloths therein, said drum including essentially horizontal or inclined axis of rotation. Washing machine is also equipped with water tank hung within housing and adapted for receiving of rotating drum therein, device for controlling operation of washing machine, and offset detecting unit positioned between water tank and housing part defining base and designed for detecting of water tank offset. Offset detecting unit includes primary winding coiled around bobbin, first secondary winding which does not overlap primary winding, and second secondary winding overlapping primary winding. First and second secondary windings are coiled in axially aligned relation with respect to primary winding. Offset detecting unit has magnetic body positioned for movement in vertical plane within bobbin, said movement corresponding to offset of water tank.

EFFECT: increased precision in detecting vibration of water tank with rotating drum placed within it.
