FIELD: the invention refers to the field of seismology particularly to seismic exploration and may be used for direct searches of underground water (artesian basins).

SUBSTANCE: the invention is directed on expansion of the field of using the mode of seismic exploration due to ensuring detection of underground water with usage of the same means. The mode of seismic exploration at searching underground water is in registration of the natural seismic background and of the seismic signal on a tested area, measured with one and more seismic complexes with following mathematical processing of measured values on whose results one can judge about presence of underground water on the tested area. About presence of underground water (artesian basins) one can judge according to substantial (in 5-10 times) increase of the level of the natural background in the range 4-15 hz in relation to the level of the natural seismic background on tested areas with assured absence of underground water and availability of resonance peak values of the level of the background on frequencies 5-14 hz.

EFFECT: ensures detection of underground water.
