SUBSTANCE: invention relates to polyester polymeric composition with improved gas-barrier properties and provides a polymeric composition comprising copolyester or polymeric hydroxycarboxylic acid, both containing hydroxycarboxylic residues as structural units, wherein (i) said hydroxycarboxylic residues containing 5 or less carbon atoms represent 2 to 75 mol % based on the total number of structural units in the composition and (ii) molar ratio SAA for hydroxycarboxylic units adjacent to each other to all hydroxycarboxylic units as well as SBB for those hydroxycarboxylic units not contacting to each other to all hydroxycarboxylic units satisfy following formula: 0,03 < SAA/SBB < 30. Composition may be used got food packing materials such as films and containers fabricated by inflation as well as packing materials for electronic pieces.
