FIELD: chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method for continuous synthesis of nitrochlorobenzene. Invention describes a method for continuous synthesis of nitrochlorobenzene by interaction of chlorobenzene with sulfuric acid, nitric acid and water wherein: (a) parent substances: chlorobenzene, sulfuric acid, nitric acid and water are charged simultaneously or successively into reactor equipped with mixing devices and stirred to provides an average specific mixing power in reactor 1.5-40 Wt/l; (b) the content of sulfuric acid in reaction mixture at stirring is 70-80 wt.-% as measured for the total content of sulfuric acid, nitric acid and water; (c) reaction is carried out under adiabatic conditions; (d) synthesized crude nitrochlorobenzene is separated from spent sulfuric acid in outlet of reactor; (e) the concentration of spent sulfuric acid is increased to the initial value and recovered its to the nitration zone again. The process is carried out at temperature of reaction mixture in initial stirring step 10-50°C. Invention provides synthesis of nitrochlorobenzene containing very low content of undesirable meta-nitrochlorobenzene.
