FIELD: petroleum processing and petrochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for treating liquid hydrocarbons, in particular light petroleum products, to remove sulfur by imposing electromagnetic fields thereto and can be widely employed in petrochemical processes and in power engineering. Sulfur removal process is characterized by that light hydrocarbons are preheated to 60°C, dispersed, and subjected to action of unipolar electromagnetic pulses having power above 1 MW, duration not longer than 1 ns, and repetition frequency at least 1 kHz, after which hydrocarbons are separated from sediments and cooled. Liquid hydrocarbon treatment plant is provided with liquid hydrocarbon heating apparatus and electromagnetic pulse exciter connected to treatment vessel and including emitter. Heating apparatus is constructed in the form of controlled heat exchanger and installed between feedstock supply system and spraying system made in the form of nozzle assembly disposed inside the treatment vessel and connected with it through pump. Emitter is located in the vessel along its longitudinal axis and is constructed as long metallic bar. Liquid hydrocarbon discharge system is connected to separator and cooling system over filter and pump. Treatment vessel and discharge system are further provided with connecting pipes to remove treatment gases and sediments.
EFFECT: enhanced sulfur removal efficiency.
