FIELD: construction, particularly special arrangements or devices in connection with roof coverings, namely building ventilation systems to prevent ice and icicle formation on roof edges.
SUBSTANCE: device has heat pipes with evaporation sections arranged in exhaust air vent channel (airway) and condensation sections fastened under roof drain pipes and gutters. In snowfall period snow is accumulated on building roof. Accumulated snow is melted by heat supplied thereto through building ceiling structure. Water from melted snow flows to cold gutters and drain pipes, which results in ice mounds, ice bulges and icicles formation. Heat pipes are covered with heat-insulation layer located between evaporation section and condensation section. Evaporation sections of heat pipes have elliptic cross-sections directed so that major ellipse axis extends in vertical direction. Evaporation sections are provided with outer ribs.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of heat pipes used for protection against icicles.
