FIELD: nuclear power engineering; uranium hexafluoride shipping containers.
SUBSTANCE: proposed container for shipping uranium hexafluoride has cylindrical side wall closed by pair of head parts which are welded to produce sealed container. One of its rear ends mounts service valve. Container also has test hole that can be used to check protection assembly closing the valve for integrity after tank is filled with uranium hexafluoride and valve protection assembly is installed. Valve protection assembly is specially shaped to meet container overall dimensions. Edge of valve protection assembly disposed at certain distance from central axis is recessed in plane depending on open end of rim by minimum 1.27 cm.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability of container valve protection against damage and ability of its keeping intact dispensing with periodic hydrostatic tests.
