FIELD: continuous production of steel.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in preliminary heating of starting metal materials in upper part of melting unit and melting of it in lower part of melting unit due to delivery of heat in form of fossil fuel. Melt is continuously discharged into reservoir for treatment where required quality of steel is set. Gases are introduced into melting unit from the outside for afterburning of melting waste gases for enhancing the afterburning at simultaneous minimization of oxidation of iron-containing starting materials and high efficiency of making use of chemical heat of waste gases. Process gases are subjected to afterburning at raising in melting unit by introducing the afterburning gases inside column of starting material through inner chamber introduced into column of material. Wall of chamber has gas inlet holes which form afterburning levels one above another.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency.
