FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to preparation method of heated reducing agent to be used during metal production process. The following operation is performed: i) pyrolysis stage for heating of carbon-bearing raw material, which uses a heat source. Raw material is pyrolysed to the pyrolysis degree of not more than 80% so that partially coked heated carbon-bearing product and pyrolysis exit gas containing volatile matters from carbon-bearing raw material is obtained. The next operation is performed: ii) combustion stage of pyrolysis exit gas so that exit combustion gas is obtained. Heat energy of exit combustion gas is used as heat source at stage i) by bringing the exit combustion gas into direct contact with carbon-bearing raw material, and/or heat energy of exit combustion gas is used as heat source at stage i) by heating carbon-bearing raw material without direct contact with carbon-bearing raw material.

EFFECT: invention also refers to metal production method, such as iron production process using the reducing agent preparation method, and to the device meant for implementation of that method.
