FIELD: engineering devices for displaying digital information.
SUBSTANCE: in accordance to method, for visual counting of decimal digital information a four-positional indicator is used, making it possible to both reduce dimensions of decimal symbol with preserved display resolution, equal to display resolution of seven-position symbols, and to realize scaling which preserves ratio of symbol width to its height at constant level equal to 1:1. When displaying fractional decimal numbers the decimal point is shown on symbol itself, increasing coefficient of useful utilization of informational field of indicator. Dimensions of decimal point during scaling of symbols may be proportionally depending on dimensions of the symbol being displayed. Fixed position of digit symbols during scaling allows to encode them in their own color. Planar position of the indicator may be either horizontal or vertical.
EFFECT: substantially simplified work of operation when used in devices for digital visual counting of automatic systems with three-positional calibration and control of technological process parameters.
