SUBSTANCE: digital alphabet is used for visual reading of information, the outline of digital characters of which is provided by the best perception thereof at detection, differentiation and identification steps. Elements of a digital display format, which is the character space of the display, are formed as a result of intersection of lines, running from corners of a square, which is the information field thereof, to the midpoints of adjacent sides of a square opposite these corners, with diagonal lines of said square, and when forming characters, the area of lit-up display elements is equal to the area of display elements not lit up, without considering spaces in between.

EFFECT: increase in digital information volume of information display apparatus without deterioration of perception of digital characters.
