FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed power supply has electrochemical current source, switching member with control unit, and inductive energy storage device with inductance L; electrochemical current supply is shorted out by capacitor of value Csh; proposed electrochemical current supply uses aqueous solution of electrolyte, gas-diffusion cathode, and internal resistor R whose value is found from expression R = (0.009 - 0.14) (L/Csh)0.5; capacitance ratio of electrochemical current supply to shorted-out capacitor is found from expression Cs = (50 - 100)Csh and capacitance ratio of shorting capacitor to energy storage inductance is found from expression LCsh = (2/π)2)T2, where T is time of energy storage in inductive storage device. Reactor or transformer is used as energy storage device. Proposed operating process involves periodic connection of electrochemical current supply with open-circuit voltage U and maximal load current I to and its disconnection from inductive storage cell by means of switching member; in the process electrochemical cell current and voltage are checked; at current of (0.1 - 0.2)I electrochemical current supply is disconnected from inductive storage cell and at voltage across electrochemical current supply of (0.6 - 0.8U) it is connected to inductive storage cell again.

EFFECT: improved design and enhanced operating reliability of current supply.
