FIELD: laser physics; pumping liquid, gaseous, and solid active media.
SUBSTANCE: proposed laser has optically coupled active element, resonator, resonator Q-factor modulator, active element pumping device, and cooling system. Active element is made in the form of n hexagonal segments filling spherical layer, where n is even number. Pumping source in the form of laser diode array is disposed on external surface of active element. Passive Q-factor modulator of resonator is made in the form of film disposed on internal surface of active element. Resonator mirrors are applied to external surface of active element and to modulator external surface. Active element cooling liquid fills gap between active element and laser diode array. Resonator external mirror is transparent to laser diode radiation. Modulator is essentially active electrooptic Q-factor device built integral with active element. Radiation polarization planes of separate laser segments are perpendicular to meridian sections of sphere.
EFFECT: ability of producing actually spherical converging wave of laser pulse beam, enhanced uniformity, heterogeneity, and orthogonality of active-medium spherical flask pumping.
