FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: solid state laser contains a source of pumping radiation, an active element mounted inside the resonator, which includes a dull and semitransparent mirror. The active element is made in the form of a rod, at least, one of its ends is bevelled so that the angle between the normal to the end and the longitudinal axis of the rod exceeds the angle of the total internal reflection. The lateral surface of the rod, opposite to the bevelled end, is made in the form of a window that is transparent to laser radiation. The pumping source is installed at the bevelled end of the active element in such a way that the pumping radiation penetrates into the active element. One of the resonator mirrors is mounted opposite the window in the active element so that the angle between the mirror axis and the surface of the bevelled end is equal to the angle between this surface and the axis of the active element.
EFFECT: increasing the energy and homogeneity of the output radiation, and the reliability of the laser.
