FIELD: ink cartridge and printer equipped with said ink cartridge.

SUBSTANCE: ink cartridge contains body, forming a section for storing ink, ink feeder port, meant for feeding ink liquid into printing head of printer, and positioning shelf, projecting from a side of cartridge body. Positioning shelf is meant for insertion into carriage positioning recess, in such a way that cartridge body is situated within the carriage cartridge mounting section. Positioning shelf has a pair of plate sections, positioned oppositely to each other with a space, and connecting section, which connects plate sections, external surface of one plate section is the positioning surface, which contacts the positioning recess. In another realization variant, ink cartridge contains body, porous resilient body, saturated with ink liquid, ink feeder port, resilient body holding rib, recessed section which results in projection of internal surface of side wall, from which the rib projects, into the ink storage section, so that the height of rib shelf is decreased relatively to internal surface of side wall. Printer, containing such an ink cartridge, has guiding shelf, which is positioned on main body of cartridge carriage in front of recessed section, and which is in sliding contact with external surface of recessed sections for guiding the ink cartridge during insertion and fastening of ink cartridge to the carriage.

EFFECT: ink cartridge provides for miniaturization of porous resilient body, and for decrease of amount of ink remaining in the cartridge, with improved serviceability; in the printer equipped with ink cartridge, high positioning precision may be maintained, required during connection of ink cartridge to carriage, and ink cartridge installation operation may be simplified.
