FIELD: pharmaceutical synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel method for synthesis of N'-methyl-1-phenyl-1-N,N-diethylaminomethanesulfonamide exhibiting antimicrobial, antiviral, and immunostimulating activities. Method resides in that 1:1 diethylamine-SO2 complex in solvent selected from a series comprising aliphatic C1-C4-alcohol and acetonitrile is reacted with equimolar amount of benzalmethylamine at stirring and cooling, after which equimolar amount of water is added at controlled temperature not higher than 45°C. Yield of desired product is 96-98% and purity 99.18-99.87%.
EFFECT: enabled large-scale production and avoided product recrystallization stage.
