FIELD: system for feeding metal is designed for casting machines having high-pressure chamber filled with melt and casting mold.
SUBSTANCE: system includes metal feed line through which alloy supplied from pressing chamber may flow to cavity of casting mold. First portion of metal feed line includes gate and portion with controlled expansion whose cross section increases in direction of alloy flow from inlet of controlled expansion portion at outlet of gate till outlet of controlled expansion portion. Outlet module of controlled expansion portion forms second zone of metal feed line from outlet of controlled expansion portion. Speed of melt flow fed to inlet of controlled expansion portion lowers when metal is flowing through controlled expansion portion. State of alloy is changed from liquid to semi-hard. Controlled expansion portion has such shape that allows provide successive decrease of alloy flow speed from value that it achieves at outlet of controlled expansion portion. In place where feed line communicates with cavity of mold alloy flow speed appears to be significantly lower than at outlet of controlled expansion portion. Such change of state occurred in controlled expansion portion is kept practically during the whole process of filling mold cavity that is why alloy is further subjected to rapid solidification.
EFFECT: possibility for producing castings with desired microstructure.
