FIELD: metallurgy, namely, technology for manufacturing brickwork of induction furnace capsule for smelting high reaction alloys, such as high purity ferrotitanium.
SUBSTANCE: brickwork is filled with a mixture of powders of periclase, corundum and liquid glass as binding agent with following ratio, in mass %: periclase powder - 26,0-30,0; corundum powder - 70,0-74,0; liquid glass 8-12 mass % to dry mixture, while periclase powder is used with following ratio of fractions, mass %: 0,63-0,16 mm fractions - 38,0-42,0; 0,16-0,10 mm fractions - 38,0-42,0; 0,10-0,063 mm fractions - 16,0-24,0, and corundum powder with following fraction ratio, mass %: 2,00-1,00 mm fractions - 48,0-52,0; 1,00-0,63 mm fractions - 48,0-52,0, then brickwork is heated at speed 300±30°C/hour up to temperature of 1700±50°C and held at that temperature during 1±0,25 hour for each 50±0,1 mm of brickwork thickness.
EFFECT: increased hardness and resistance of brickwork under conditions of changing temperature.
