FIELD: mobile communications.
SUBSTANCE: when mobile terminal moves from first service zone to second service zone, mobile terminal transfers IP-address of original access router to second access router. Second access router uses the information to find information about characteristics of first access router, which is in turn used when taking future decisions about communication channel switching, and exchanges characteristics information with first access router. On basis of information received as a result of exchange, access routers are assumed to be geographically adjacent. When another mobile terminal moves from one service zone to another service zone, the system picks optimal target access router on basis of previously researched information, including the assumption about geographical adjacency of access routers.
EFFECT: increased speed of communication channel switching.
