SUBSTANCE: method involves measuring vein and artery diameters within circle of 3 cm diameter having its center in optic nerve disk. Artery crimpiness coefficient is calculated. Vein diameters being equal to 113-122 mcm, artery diameters of 76-80 mcm and artery crimpiness coefficient being greater than 1.18, the second stage premature newborn retinopathy progress to the third stage is to be predicted. Vein diameters being equal to 123-150 mcm and higher, artery diameters of 80-84 mcm and artery crimpiness coefficient being greater than 1.29, the third prethreshold stage premature newborn retinopathy progress to the third threshold stage is to be predicted. Vein diameters being less than 113 mcm, artery diameters less than 76 mcm and artery crimpiness coefficient being less than 1.18 at the second stage premature newborn retinopathy, its regress is to be predicted. Vein diameters being less than 123 mcm, artery diameters less than 80 mcm and artery crimpiness coefficient being less than 1.29 at the third prethreshold stage of premature newborn retinopathy, its regress is to be predicted.

EFFECT: high reliability of prognosis.
