FIELD: measuring technique.
SUBSTANCE: measurements can be performed directly on site without penetrating the container filled with plutonium oxide. Moisture content is measured in PuO2 powder due to measurement of content of thermal neurons radiated by that portion of powder followed by measurement of moisture content in that powder while taking specified relation between portion of thermal neutrons, radiated by other portion of powder, and known amount of moisture content in same portion of PuO2.
EFFECT: improved precision of measurement.
