FIELD: nuclear physics.

SUBSTANCE: system for detecting fragments of nuclear fuel in a graphite unit and determining their parameters comprises a movement module with a grip, with a low-resolution gamma-radiation detector installed inside, to determine preliminary characteristics by activity. In addition to the gamma-radiation detector there is a thermal neutron detector based on a neutron counter to detect the presence of nuclear fuel fragments in the extracted graphite block.

EFFECT: development of a system for detection and determination of mass of nuclear fuel fragments in graphite blocks extracted from nuclear reactor masonry during dismantling.
