FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: casting space in plant for continuous casting of metallic bands between two cylinders is restricted by surfaces of refractory material. Lateral wall includes supporting plate in front part of which recess if formed. Insert of hard material is placed in said recess along its periphery. Remaining part of recess is filled with lining. Front side of lining turned to casting space is shifted relative to front side at least along part of its height.
EFFECT: elimination of parasitic solidification of metal in lateral walls, lowered risk of emergency occurring.
