FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: process comprises steps of feeding melt from reservoir between two horizontally arranged rotating cooled rollers while melt solidifies in the form of steel strip. Steel melt contains nickel, less than 1 mass %; chrome, less than 1 mass %; carbon, less than 0.4 mass%; manganese, no less than 0.55 mass%. Recesses are formed on molding surfaces of rollers according to random pattern and they are uniformly distributed on surface. Specific pressure acting upon rollers is set in range 5 - 150 N/mm of strip width. Lateral plates with rollers form reservoir from which melt steel is fed onto casting rollers. Reservoir with melt is covered by jacket. Inside reservoir in space between steel melt and jacket, gas atmosphere inert to steel and (or) providing reduction action is created.
EFFECT: possibility for producing steel strip having small convexity of its profile and having no cracking.
