FIELD: electromagnetic logging of boreholes.
SUBSTANCE: antennas used for electromagnetic logging sondes have one or more electrical conductors disposed around core. Conductor or conductors are disposed so that antenna has first and second dipole magnetic moments actually perpendicular to core longitudinal axis and third dipole magnetic moment parallel to core longitudinal axis. In addition, antenna has independent electrical conductor disposed on core for varying first magnetic moment.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of measuring subsurface rock properties.
