METHOD AND DEVICE FOR GRAVITATIONAL HEMO-REHABILITATION OF COSMONAUTS UNDER CONDITION OF PROLONGED STATE OF WEIGHTLESSNESS Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61M1/36

Abstract RU 2306151 C2

FIELD: medicine; space medicine.

SUBSTANCE: portions of blood are periodically taken from cosmonaut. Portions of blood are subject to influence of artificial gravity due to centrifuging those portions. Then blood portions are shaken to get uniform mixture and returned back to cosmonaut. Device for gravitational hemo-rehabilitation of cosmonauts has portable apparatus provided with multiple speed centrifuge for performing faltering hemapheresis and microprocessor control system. Valve is mounted in apparatus between blood-conducting duct and anticoagulation pump. Pump is connected to centrifuge and it is mounted between container and valve at blood-conducting duct. Pump, which prepares or rejects components of blood, is connected to centrifuge and it is installed between container for plasma and valve at blood-conducting duct for blood components to be prepared or rejected. Blood-conducting duct is made for connection to vein of cosmonaut for taking and bringing back blood after centrifuging process. Modes of microprocessor system allow take blood components simultaneously for subsequent blood transfusion or for rejection of pathological blood components.

EFFECT: strengthened cytoskeleton of blood cells; rejection of absorbed pathological elements.
