FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, namely, to a plasmapheresis system and to a method for controlling the plasmapheresis system, used to optimise the collected volume/weight of the anticoagulated plasma. Proposed in one example is a nomogram utilising the haematocrit of the donor to calculate the volume/weight of untreated plasma in the plasma product having the maximum volume permitted by the FDA nomogram. In the course of the plasmapheresis procedure containing multiple collection phases, followed by a reinfusion cycle wherein concentrated erythrocytes are returned to the donor, the volume of plasma product subject to collection is calculated prior to each collection cycle so as to account for the increase in the haematocrit of the donor, ultimately resulting in a larger total volume of plasma product subject to collection in the course of the plasmapheresis procedure.
EFFECT: ensured optimisation of plasma collection levels.
