METHOD FOR GRAVITATIONAL HEMOREHABILITATION OF COSMONAUTS IN ZERO GRAVITY AND A DEVICE FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61M1/36

Abstract RU 2757577 C1

FIELD: medical technology.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical technology, namely to the method and device of gravitational hemo-rehabilitation of cosmonauts in zero gravity. The method includes periodic extracorporeal exposure of portions of the cosmonaut’s blood to artificial gravity by centrifuging these portions of blood and then returning them to the astronaut after shaking until uniform mixing. During centrifugation, the axis of rotation of a short-radius centrifuge with a portion of blood is rotated within acceptable limits relative to a fixed orthogonal or parallel axis and periodically change the direction of rotation. First, the orthogonal or parallel axis is set to its original position relative to the axis of rotation of the short-radius centrifuge. Then a given rotation mode of a short-radius centrifuge is set and only after that its rotations are carried out relative to a fixed orthogonal or parallel axis. The device contains a system for creating artificial gravity, made in the form of a mobile device for intermittent hemapheresis with a multi-speed short-radius centrifuge and a microprocessor control system, which, on the one hand, is connected to the cosmonaut’s vein through a blood pump, an air detector, a valve, a filter, a pressure monitor, air detectors and a blood line and is connected to the cosmonaut’s vein and an anticoagulant tank through a valve, an air detector, an anticoagulant pump. On the other hand, the short-radius centrifuge is connected through a main, sensor, valve, pump for collected blood components to a container for collected blood components. A pressure monitor is installed on the section of the line between the valve and the sensor, and through the valve and the saline pump, the line is connected to the saline tank. A rotation device is embedded into the device, the body of which is rigidly connected to the structure of the manned space system, and the output shaft is connected to the body of a mobile device for intermittent hemapheresis. The axis of the output shaft is located orthogonally or parallel to the axis of rotation of the centrifuge of short radius.

EFFECT: expansion of the functionality of the centrifugation process by changing the modulus and direction of the vector of the inertia force acting on blood cells during centrifugation.
