FIELD: fire-fighting, particularly to extinguish fires in inhabited compartments at any stage of compartment usage.
SUBSTANCE: method involves delivering fire-extinguishing composition in pressurized compartment and terminating convective gas exchange therein. Fire protection system operates as following: as fire occurs in the case of acceleration less than threshold acceleration for combustible material having the greatest combustibility convective gas exchange is stopped in pressurized compartment. If acceleration is equal or exceeds above threshold acceleration only fire-extinguishing composition is delivered in the compartment. Acceleration of gravity is measured inside pressurized compartment at maximal distance from spacecraft center of gravity.
EFFECT: increased fire safety and ecological stability during fire-extinguishing composition usage, decreased fire-extinguishing composition consumption and fire-extinguishing system weight.
