FIELD: fire-fighting methods, equipment or accessories, particularly to determine combustibility index from gravity.
SUBSTANCE: device comprises combustion chamber with material sample to be tested. Two flat parallel walls of the chambers are transversal to gravity vector. One wall may perform plane-parallel motion. Combustion chamber is arranged in centrifuge having plane of rotation transversal to gravity vector. Opposite combustion chamber walls are porous. Correlation to calculate combustion chamber height hc for material combustibility index determination in dependence of working gaseous atmosphere parameters is presented. The invention provides minimization of natural convection in direction transversal to gravity vector, as well as heat and mass transfer during sample burning under convection created by centripetal acceleration.
EFFECT: decreased costs, possibility to estimate material combustibility in circumstances typical for other planets or for space craft interior, possibility to work out fire-protection measures for inhabited compartments of extraterrestrial objects and objects to be arranged on other planets.
