FIELD: fire-fighting, particularly fire-extinguishing in manned compartments of spacecrafts.
SUBSTANCE: method involves decreasing ventilation flow velocity (as ventilation device operation mode is changed or ventilation device is turned-off) and activating pressurized compartment pressure reduction system, which provides decrease of fire-extinguishing time due to increase of threshold flow velocity Vlim, which sustains material combustion and decreases medium pressure. Said fire-extinguishing time is also decreased due to reduction of time necessary to obtain Vlim value of materials with increased kinematic viscosity of medium.
EFFECT: decreased fire-extinguishing time.
