SUBSTANCE: method comprises analyzing image of a set of stalks by means of summarizing the number of black pixels in each vertical row in the width of the image, plotting a curve of the distribution of the sums obtained, approximating the curve by a polynomial, determining the coordinates of knee points in the rising and dropping sections of the polynomial, and determining the mean length from the difference of the abscise coordinates of the points of knee.
EFFECT: simplified method.
