SUBSTANCE: invention relates to arylether-substituted imidazoquinolines and tetrahydroimidazoquinolines useful in inducing of cytokines biosynthesis. In particular described are imidazoquinolines of formula I wherein X represents -CHR₃; R₁ represents aryl, R₄-aryl; R₂ represents hydrogen atom, alkyl, aryl, tetrahydrofuran; alkyl-Y-alkyl; alkyl-Y-aryl, and alkyl substituted with one or more substituents; R are independently C₁-C₁₀-alkyl, C₁-C₁₀- alkoxy, hydroxyl group; halogen atom, and trifluoromethyl or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; meanings of the rest substituents are as defined in description.
