FIELD: structural members of artillery guns allowing recoil and return to the firing position, may be applicable in artillery guns with a high rate of fire.

SUBSTANCE: the recoil and counterrecoil brake of the artillery gun has a cylinder filled with the working fluid separated by a piston with a rod into the piston and rod cavities, variable-area throttle chamber connecting the cylinder rod cavity to the piston one. The brake is provided with an additional assembly of working fluid throttling at the end of the counterrecoil located in the piston cavity of the cylinder and has a cut-off member and an additional throttle channel communicating the piston cavity of the cylinder with the rod one, its nominal bore is less than the nominal bore of the variable-area throttle channel at the end of the counterrecoil.

EFFECT: maintained parameters of recoil and admissible duration of counterrecoil of gradual braking of the recoiling parts at the end of the counterrecoil and reduced final counterrecoil speed.
