FIELD: analysis of television images, possible use for improving color transitions in television images.
SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, minimum and maximum are determined in chromaticity signals, localized inside mask area, having set dimensions, centered on input chromaticity signal, correction signal is computed, transition increase direction signal is determined based on computed correction signal, transition amplitude signal is generated on basis of correction signal, and transition of input chromaticity signal is controlled on basis of minimum and maximum, correction signal, transition increase direction signal and transition amplitude signal.
EFFECT: simplified algorithm and reduced influence of noise due to control of color transition by means of processing using nonlinear Laplacian.
