FIELD: image processing means.

SUBSTANCE: present embodiments generally refer to pixel processing in an image, and particularly to such processing, which improves pixel brightness values. Processing pixels involves checking whether color component of pixel in color space, providing the least error between at least one color component in another color space defined on the basis of the color component, and at least one original color component of the pixel in another color space, to output of any color channel of the pixel beyond the permitted range. Value of the color component is obtained using the first function/LUT, if the color component giving the least error does not lead to output of any color channel of the pixel beyond the limits of the specified allowable range. However, the value of the color component is obtained using the second, other, function/LUT, if the color component giving the least error leads to output of any pixel color channel beyond the allowable range.
