FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method for controlling the image display through a processor is provided. The method comprises a stage of obtaining access to the input image in the first colour space with the first enhanced dynamic range (EDR). Further, according to the method, a stage of converting the colour to the input image to determine the first output image in the perceptual-adjusted colour space IPT (IPT-PQ). The colour conversion from the first colour space to the IPT-PQ space is based at least in part on the application of the nonlinear function of the perceptual converter (PQ) to the function of the input image.
EFFECT: providing effective control over the image display in a colour space with an enhanced dynamic range.
